So I bought things to make vegan stuffed shells tonight and have fresh sauce on the cooker right now.

For lunch I had one of B's stuffed peppers with veggie crumble and rice. I'd put it at 500 cal...but then I just popped a couple Lindt truffles! (160) but they were SO worth it so who am I to say anything...

Second day. The headache is over...I think!

I finished out last night with a bowl of matzo ball soup, coming in at 160 calories, end of the day at 1470.

I don't want to calorie count all the time because I know it'll make me batty and more and more restrictive. I wanted to get an idea of how much I was taking in. I think I can actually eat "less" if I just eat more smartly than itemizing snack packs and honestly, I think eating a small slice of pizza is far more gratifying than two albeit organic snack packs.

Don't even get me started on organic. That's a whole other entry.

Anyway. Got on the scale this morning, 185.4. I know I didn't really lose a pound and a half in a day. I remind myself again, weight fluxuates, just go by how things fit and I'll be fine. Eat less, move more, and all that yadda yadda, yadda.

Last night I mention to B that Ive decided to "diet", which was a terrible way to put it but I also wanted to let him know that I wouldn't be up for eating giant plates of nachos for a couple of weeks as I stabilize post-holiday constant indulgences. He couldn't understand why I would want to diet. (knowing how miserable and manic it makes me.) I explained it wasn't a diet-diet per se but more of a watching what I eat, dumping all the cookies in the pantry, and making better choices. Of course he doesn't really see my poor eating decisions because I tend to really "binge" when no one is around and I make sure I clean up after. I don't want people to see how out of control I get, especially that I have people around me thinking that I'm this organized over-achiever. (which is another whole other entry!)

The one constant on this "diet", drinking water. More importantly 2 full 32 oz Nalgene bottles worth a day.

I am NOT going to fall victim to false weight loss through water loss. If I'm going to lose weight it will be as healthy as possible. I have to keep telling myself that or I WILL fall into a routine habit of restriction and managing calories to under 400 a day. (not good)

So today, no counting. Just jotting down what I consume (aside from water/coffee/tea) I've promised B a dinner of stuffed shells but to challenge myself I'm making them vegan (no cheese!) I love veg/vegan cooking.

At work...with a headache.

Working.

The more I try not to put every darned thing in my mouth the more I actually think about eating. Seems as if I have opened myself up to some bad habits. Doesn't help I'm coming off a cold. Oops. There goes my talent for excuses. Dinner consisted of half a bagel with cream cheese, 270.

Breakfast was a chicken veggie wrap at 290
Annie's snack mix x 2, 260
Dried mango 120
Spinach feta wrap 280
Banana 90

So far, 1310 and it's 6:20. It is day one, I've gotten used to splurging all the time for any occassion. I'm looking at trying to stay around 1500 most days. Still...this headache is killing me...

The realization.

It's been post holiday a while now. The "Holidays" in my world end on January 2nd. The end of the weekend after New Year's if you really want to justify things. March, if you have the ability to justify any bad behaviour like my brain tends to do.

Terrible day? Vodka, a gyro, and an eggplant grinder seems like a perfectly respectable lunch.
Feeling sick? It's okay to eat the entire box of fish sticks, a large handful of cookies, and bottle of wine.
You'll start paying attention tomorrow to eating better? Chinese takeawaypalooza.

I stepped on the scale last night and saw a number I hadn't seen in a while. 193. One hundred and ninety three. I knew that couldn't be right! Weight fluxuates. But there was that number and reality hit me upside the head that fun-time eating whatever I wanted was over now. Especially the drinking!

So the goal is to lose five pounds. The five pounds I approximately put on over the course of the holidays. The plan is easy enough. Cut down drinking, cut down the sweet treats, resist the Pepsi Throwback that just came back out and I know is delicious but it also so very terrible for me. The biggest kicker, just accounting for what I put in my mouth and to jot it down here. No real "diet"or no starving.

Morning start weight, 187.
